Osun APPPS Congratulates Osun Assembly on inauguration of new Speaker, Timothy Owoeye

OSUN APPPS CONGRATULATES OSUN ASSEMBLY ON INAUGURATION OF NEW SPEAKER, TIMOTHY OWOEYE

The Association of Progressive Political Parties (APPPS), Osun State Chapter on Thursday congratulated Hon. Timothy Owoeye on his emergence as the fifth Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly since the creation of Osun in 1991. 

This was contained in a congratulatory message issued and signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Association, Mr. Wole Adedoyin and Elder Adeloye Ogunmodede both of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and the Action Alliance (AA).

The Osun State House of Assembly had on Thursday declared Hon. Timothy Owoeye of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Ilesa East Constituency as the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly. Also, Mr. Femi Popoola representing Boripe/Boluwaduro Constituency, emerged the Deputy Speaker as both of them were sworn-in and administered the Oath of Office by Clerk of the House, Mr. Simeon Amusan.

Osun APPPS however called on the new speaker to accommodate everyone in the house and shun politics of seclusion and retaliation.

The umbrella body of the progressive political parties in Osun state advised the new Speaker not to go against any lawmaker because of political or ideological differences.

According to the Message, “Osun State citizens will not accept any excuse for any failure in lawmaking for any reason. We also advise Hon. Timothy Owoeye to get competent hands irrespective of party affiliation.”

The Speaker in his inaugural speech titled “As the great work continues “,recounts his sojourn in the assembly from 2007 till 2019, where he started as a Minority Leaders in 2007 and later became the Majority Leader from 2011 to 2019.
